Daniel Wu is the latest actor to join Alicia Vikander in Tomb Raider, the video game adaptation which will follow Lara Croft’s adventures.

Recent casting news told us Walton Goggins is set to play the film’s main villain. However, no further details have been released, meaning we don’t know if his character will be original or someone recognizable from the video game.

Now, Variety is reporting that Wu has also been added to the film as Lu Ren, “a ship captain who partners with Croft on a quest to find her father.” The character seems to be an original one.

The reboot will focus on 2013’s Tomb Raider video game, which showed Lara Croft as an archaeology student for the first time. The first installment of the reboot video game franchise saw Lara on her inaugural mission, with the followup game, Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015), taking place a year later.

We don’t know the exact details of the plot yet, though this information about trying to track down her father is one big clue we can speculate about. So far it sounds like Vikander’s tomb raider will be much younger version than Angelina Jolie’s.

Wu’s Into the Badlands will return this spring. Check out our previous articles for news and exclusive interviews for the upcoming season 2.
