This Evening, Daniel Radcliffe appeared on the controversial British Comedian: Jonathan Ross’ show to discuss his leaving of Potter as well as; what the future may hold for his career…

Appearing as a guest alongside David Attenborough (Broadcaster and Naturalist), Noel Fielding (Comedian) and Seal (Musician) to conduct a humorous and entertaining interview, he began by affirming a previous statement; when asked whether he was likely to return to his role as the famous boy Wizard, he replied ‘well she isn’t writing any more, and I’ve asked her not too’.

The first inevitable topic on the agenda was the conclusion to the franchise which found him fame, during the discussion of which Dan told an amusing anecdote involving gifts given on the final day, “The only person that really gave me a gift on the last day was Rupert, now let me first just say I don’t play the trumpet, nor do I have any intention of learning, so I was slightly bewildered when Rupert gave me one that was self-engraved…” when questioned about the engraving, Radcliffe replied “it was just abuse really, too rude to be said on television”. Then going on to settle the debate of Harry Potter vs. Edward Cullen, “Oh yeah, Harry would annihilate all of the vampires”, you heard it from the man himself. The comical antics were concluded with a story of how a Japanese fan had once fainted when meeting him, and how another had asked to stroke Grint’s eyelashes.

The interview than assumed a more serious air, as Radcliffe got down to promotion of ‘The Woman in Black’. An clip was shown which depicted Dan’s character (Arthur) peering through a peep-hole, and suffering the impertinence of a small girl lunging towards him from the other side of the door. Coincidentally, Jonathan Ross’ wife had written the script for the film and so it was no surprise that this amounted to the main topic of discussion. On the film itself, Radcliffe commented, “It’s a great story; that’s what ultimately attracted me to it… It’s a very scary film!” and emphasised his pleasure at escaping the image of Harry, “It’s lovely to finally be talking about something else!”

They concluded the banter-filled exchange with a brief discussion on Rosie Coker – Dan’s girlfriend of almost two years – throughout which, both parties made rather lewd, yet hilarious comments which greatly reflected Dan’s interview style. Also, in regards to his girlfriend, Radcliffe mentioned the incompetence of journalists – a jibe that even J.K. Rowling herself would have been proud of: “I remember when the media first uncovered Mine and Rosie’s relationship, it started off as Daniel Radcliffe and Rosie Coker – daughter of Painter and Decorator [when, in fact, he is actually a builder], it then progressed to Rosie Coker – daughter of Painter, after which it was Rosie Coker – daughter of Artist and finally, Rosie Coker – Artist.”

Seemingly pleased to be moving forward with his career, Dan made witty and intelligent remarks, finishing the interview with “Now I’m going to take three weeks off, then it’s back to America to hopefully start work on my next project: Kill Your Darlings”. This film is due for release in 2013 and includes cast members such as Elizabeth Olsen.
