What If hits select theaters tomorrow, and stars Zoe Kazan and Daniel Radcliffe spoke about the film with Hypable in an exclusive interview.

We caught up with the stars as they wrapped up their morning interviews, and as Radcliffe prepped to make his way out to a performance of The Cripple of Inishmann, the duo seemed anything but run down by the long press day. In fact, their energy was quiet infectious.

After a few warnings that we needed to reel it in and begin instead of discussing old cartoon shows, Radcliffe and Kazan spoke with Hypable about working with a great ensemble, including stars such as Adam Driver and Megan Park, and the not so easy twists and turns of the romantic comedy genre.

Hypable Exclusive:

“In romantic comedies normally all the problems are solved by romance, but that’s not how they actually get solved.” Radcliffe says as he explains the difference between What If and other romantic comedies. “And in the case of flying to Ireland, that just makes the situation much worse and more complicated…In this movie.” Radcliffe covers by adding, “In this movie I fly to Ireland. Not that just generally flying to Ireland will make any relationship much more complicated.”

What If is the story of medical school dropout Wallace (Daniel Radcliffe), who’s been repeatedly burned by bad relationships. While everyone around him, including his roommate Allan (Adam Driver) seems to be finding the perfect partner (Mackenzie Davis), Wallace decides to put his love life on hold. It is then that he meets Chantry (Zoe Kazan), an animator who lives with her longtime boyfriend Ben (Rafe Spall). Wallace and Chantry form an instant connection, striking up a close friendship. Still, there is no denying the chemistry between them, leading the pair to wonder, what if the love of your life is actually your best friend? The ensemble romantic comedy costars Megan Park and Oona Chaplin.

Be sure to catch What If opening in select theaters Friday, August 8.
