Daniel Kaluuya could be joining yet another Ryan Coogler production.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Academy Award nominee Daniel Kaluuya is currently in talks to star in upcoming biopic Jesus Was My Homeboy.

The film tells the story of Black Panther activist Fred Hampton, who was later assassinated.

Jesus Was My Homeboy is set to tell the story of Hampton’s death through the eyes of the FBI informant whose information helped aid the assassination.

Hampton was an activist and organizer who went on to become the chairman of the Illinois chapter after quickly rising in the ranks of the organization. The activist was later assassinated at the age of 21 during a coordinated raid. The raid was led by a tactical unit under orders from the FBI and the Chicago PD.

Kaluuya would play Hampton if he boards the project.

One other actor who is also in talks to star in Jesus Was My Homeboy is Lakeith Stanfield.

Stanfield would be playing an FBI informant named William O’Neal, who eventually goes on to infiltrate the Black Panthers. O’Neal’s information is what assisted in the assassination of Hampton.

Ryan Coogler, who previously worked with Kaluuya in Marvel’s Black Panther, would be serving as producer on the project along with High Maintenance’s Shaka King.

King is also on board to direct the upcoming biopic from a script he co-wrote with Will Berson.
