It was announced today that Harry Potter actor Dan Radcliffe has joined a social network to help provide an accurate resource for information about the actor.

That social network is Google+.

“This has mainly come about because of the amount of people that I meet who tell me that they have contacted me on Twitter or Facebook when I know that’s impossible — because I don’t belong to either one of those sites,” he told MTV, who had the first report. “Now that I have this page, there will be an outlet for accurate information and hopefully people will not waste their time giving credence to people pretending to be me.”

If you’re hoping for updates on Radcliffe’s eating, shopping, or bathroom habits, don’t count on seeing those here. “It will be active,” he said, “but with updates about things I’m working on or have worked on, including things I’m passionate about, like The Trevor Project. What it won’t be is the minutia of my daily life, like what’s on the craft services table.”

While we’re glad Radcliffe finally is involved with social media, we think he made the wrong choice with Google+. The social network has failed to take off for Google while Twitter and Facebook continue to surge. The reason why he’s avoiding those two networks may be because of comments in the past about not being able to handle Twitter and Facebook. He seems to think it’d be impossible for him to use one of the other services without losing control of it.

We’re not entirely sure why he’s using Google+ to, in his own words, stop people from saying they contacted him “on Twitter or Facebook.” Daniel: It’s still going to happen, because you still don’t have a Twitter or Facebook.
