A new interview from Warner Brothers’ Harry Potter Oscar/DVD-buzz luncheon on Monday (see photos) is now online courtesy of The Wall Street Journal.

In this one, lead Harry Potter star Dan Radcliffe says he doesn’t deserve an Oscar – but Alan Rickman does.

Quotage:

“I’ve never done one of these before,” Daniel Radcliffe said nervously at the 21 Club, referring to luncheons that are intended to drum up Oscar buzz. (The movie was also released on DVD this month.) “Do I think I deserve an Oscar for this film?” he asked. “No, not really. But of course I wouldn’t turn it down! That would be ridiculous.”

The 22-year-old Mr. Radcliffe said he believes Alan Rickman should be handed a trophy: “I don’t think anyone else is going to turn in as emotionally powerful a supporting performance, and with that amount of pressure.”

Radcliffe also discussed his favorite scene from filming the entire story:

With all the “Harry Potter” films having come and gone, Mr. Radcliffe and guests at the luncheon reminisced on some of their favorite scenes. For instance, a bittersweet, vaguely romantic moment in which Mr. Radcliffe danced to Nick Cave’s “O Children” in a tent with his co-star, Emma Watson, during “Deathly Hallows,” one of the few on-screen moments not found anywhere in the books.

“David [Yates, the director] said, ‘I want a scene with you and Emma where it could happen,'” Mr. Radcliffe recalled. “Just for a second, we led the audience down that path. They’re two teenagers who have been left together in a tent for months. It’s miraculous nothing else does go on between them.”

“I know some of the audience kind of wanted the Harry-Hermoine thing to happen,” Mr. Radcliffe continued. “I knew people were going to project sexual tension.”

Do you think Dan Radcliffe deserves an Oscar? Or do you agree with him and think it’s Rickman who most deserves one?
