We reported at the end of November that Kill Your Darlings would premiere at Sundance, and now the first official photo from the movie has been released.

In it we see characters William S. Burroughs (Ben Foster), Allen Ginsberg (Daniel Radcliffe), Dane DeHaan (Lucien Carr), and Jack Kerouac (Jack Huston). Allen and Jack are gay and fall into a relationship with one another, as on-set photos earlier this year showed.

The story begins when Allen attends Columbia University in 1944. The character’s life “is turned upside down when he sets eyes on Lucien Carr, an impossibly cool and boyishly handsome classmate. Carr opens Ginsberg up to a bohemian world and introduces him to William Burroughs and Jack Kerouac. Repelled by rules and conformity in both life and literature, the four agree to tear down tradition and make something new, ultimately formulating the tenets of and giving birth to what became the Beat movement.”

The movie also explores Allen’s struggle to discover his sexuality. It is the first role for Radcliffe where he will play a gay character.

Dane DeHaan has been known around Hollywood lately for his great performance in Chronicle, a film about a young adult who obtains super-human like powers and does no good with them. He’ll also be playing Harry Osborne in The Amazing Spider-Man sequel.
