Harry Potter actor Dan Radcliffe has never been seen growing his own pair of horns – until now.

Entertainment Weekly has a first look at Radcliffe on the set of his new film Horns, which just started shooting in Vancouver, Canada today. In the supernatural thriller the actor plays Ignatius “Ig” Perrish, a “less-than-angelic young man who wakes up to find the titular appendages growing from his forehead.” Describing the role, Radcliffe said, “It’s a very, very different type of part than anything I’ve done before.” It’s “deeply emotional and also incredibly outrageous in some ways.”

Ig is “accused of the violent rape and murder of his girlfriend before waking up and to find horns that come with a wildly tempting power trip — he can induce people to tell the truth or compel them to give into their ugliest inner urges.”

No release date has been set yet for the film, but we’re liking how natural of a fit the horns are for the star. We can always count on our Radcliffe to surprise us with interesting new roles, and we’ll be sure to check this one out once it hits theaters.

Just yesterday we had a first look at Radcliffe in A Young Doctor’s Notebook which also stars Mad Men’s Jon Hamm, slated to make its UK television debut later this year. Next year, Radcliffe stars in Kill Your Darlings and The F Word.
