In a brief new interview, Harry Potter actor Dan Radcliffe says he would return for J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter spinoff if the author needed him to.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter Magazine, Radcliffe says that he assumes he will not be asked to be in the Fantastic Beasts movie starring Newt Scamander because “we can’t be doing these characters when we’re 40.”

However, Radcliffe admits that if Rowling did need him for something, he would have an open ear to returning as boy wizard Harry Potter. “I never know what Jo [Rowling] is going to write, but at the moment I’m in the same position that everyone else is in — waiting to hear what information is coming out because I don’t know anything about these new films.”

When asked in what situation he could see a return for his character, he added, “[if] travel rears its head again. I’ll be intrigued to see what she does.”

Since filming on Deathly Hallows – Part 2 completed in 2010, Radcliffe has always said he wouldn’t completely rule out some sort of return to Harry Potter because of his admiration for Rowling’s writing skills. Presently we have a hard time imagining Rowling including Harry in this movie because the basis of the film seems so far away from what we saw in Potter.

Potter and Fantastic Beasts producer David Heyman said recently a Dumbledore cameo by Michael Gambon is in the realm of possibility.

Should Dan Radcliffe have any sort of role in the ‘Harry Potter’ spinoff?
