The Lost Symbol and The Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown revealed the title of his next book this morning on NBC’s Today Show.

Inferno is about Dante and will be released May 14, 2013. It continues to follow Robert Langdon who has been at the center of The Lost Symbol, The Da Vinci Code, and Angels and Demons. According to a press release, Infero is set in Europe where Robert “is drawn into a harrowing world centred on one of history’s most enduring and mysterious literary masterpieces… Dante’s Inferno”

“Against this backdrop, Langdon battles a chilling adversary and grapples with an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science. Drawing from Dante’s dark epic poem, Langdon races to find answers and decide whom to trust…before the world is irrevocably altered.”

In light of today’s news, Brown issued a statement about Infero. “Although I studied Dante’s ‘Inferno’ as a student, it wasn’t until recently, while researching in Florence, that I came to appreciate the enduring influence of Dante’s work on the modern world. With this new novel, I am excited to take readers on a journey deep into this mysterious realm…a landscape of codes, symbols, and more than a few secret passageways.”

The book will retail for $14.99 in eBook format, $17.97 in hardback, and $22.64 in paperback large print. Those low prices are available through Amazon – use the box above to pre-order now.
