The CW’s live-action Powerpuff Girls pilot has found its Mojo Jojo in Nicholas Podany.

Update (4/2/21): According to Variety, Nicholas Podany is the latest actor to join. The cast of Powerpuff— The CW’s forthcoming live-action reboot of The Powerpuff Girls.

For his part, Podany will be taking on the role of Mojo Jojo.

In the Cartoon Network animated series, Mojo Jojo is an evil, anthropomorphic ape, who also happens to be the girls’ arch nemesis. As with most of the animated characters set to appear in the CW pilot however, the villain has been given a bit of an upgrade.

On Powerpuff, he’s known as Joseph “Jojo” Mondel Jr. Per variety, Jojo is described in his childhood as “nerdy, powerhungry and insecure,” but “obsessed with The Powerpuff Girls, despite his father’s grudge against them.” As an adult, he’s described as someone who “finds his sweetness and rage in constant battle.”

Nicholas Podany’s casting comes hot on the heels of word that Donald Faison has also joined the cast of Powerpuff as Professor Utonium.

According to Variety, Scrubs vet Donald Faison has officially joined the cast of the upcoming live-action reboot of The Powerpuff Girls coming down the pipeline at The CW.

Faison will take on the role of Professor Drake Utonium– a character that fans of the original Cartoon Network series will undoubtedly be all too familiar with.

In the animated series, Professor Utonium is the one who creates Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup after mixing together sugar, spice, and everything nice, along with Chemical X.

In The CW’s new live-action series (now simply titled Powerpuff), the professor is described as “quirky, debonair, and a pinch narcissistic.”

He’s also proud of his three daughters, but just like Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, Professor Utonium seems to be grappling with his own demons. Specifically, he’s on the precipice of a midlife crisis. Despite, he’s also determined to fix things with his daughters, who are now all grown up.

Donald Faison joins previously announced cast members Chloe Bennett, Dove Cameron, and Yana Perrault, who will play Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, respectively.

Behind the camera, Heather Regnier and Academy Award winner Diablo Cody (Juno) are on board to write and executive produce.

Meanwhile, powerhouse producer Greg Berlanti is also on board to executive produce along with Sara Schechter, and David Madden. Berlanti, Schechter, and Madden will all produce through the Berlanti Productions banner.
