The CW’s upcoming Kung Fu remake has found its newest cast member in Hours of Operation alum Tony Chung.

According to Deadline, actor Tony Chung is the latest star to join the cast of The CW’s Kung Fu.

The forthcoming series is based off of the 1970s series created by Ed Spielman of the same name— only it reimagines the plot with a female lead.

The CW’s take will find actress Olivia Liang starring as Nicky Shen— a Chinese American woman who drops out of college following a quarter life crisis. Nicky’s crisis finds her setting off on a life-changing journey to China where she spends some time in an isolated monastery. When she returns anew to her hometown, Nicky discovers she’s not the only one who’s undergone some changes.

In her absence, her hometown has become riddled with crime and corruption, which prompts Nicky to use her newly acquired martial arts skills and Shaolin values to stop criminals in an effort to protect her community. In addition to bringing criminals to justice, Nicky’s also on the hunt for the assassin who killed her Shaolin– a dangerous figure who also happens to be targeting her.

For his part, Chung will take on the role of Dennis Soong— the man who’s gearing up to marry Nicky’s larger than life older sister, Althea. Dennis comes from a wealthy family and is described as being the perfect trophy husband for Althea between his “effortless charm, good looks, and money.” It won’t all be smooth sailing for the happy couple, however. Especially not between clashes amongst their respective families, in addition to some unearthed deep dark secrets that could put a damper on their engagement.

Behind the camera, The CW’s Kung Fu remake hails from Christina M. Kim, Martin Gero., Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Robert Berens.

Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect Kung Fu to premiere via The CW.
