At the direction of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Broadway is shutting down for the next month over Coronavirus fears.

The Governor has halted any gatherings of 500 or more people in New York State to help curb the spread of the virus, leaving the ever-popular and profitable Broadway to close its doors. The ban will be enacted starting tonight, March 12 at 5 PM and won’t be lifted until April 12.

What’s more, venues with an occupancy of 500 or fewer people must cut their occupancy limits by 50%.

Shows running on Broadway right now include Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, The Lion King, Dear Evan Hansen, The Book of Mormon, Frozen, Hamilton, Aladdin, and Wicked.

Over the past 24 hours, there’s been a rapidly growing number of major events being canceled as the country tries to stop the spread of the Coronavirus. Hollywood studios have delayed the release of movies including Fast 9 and A Quiet Place Part II, while the NHL, NBA, MLS, and MLB have all paused their seasons.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’s San Francisco production has also halted performances now through at least March 31.
