On the same day that J.K. Rowling announced that royalties from The Cuckoo’s Calling will be going to The Soldier’s Charity, the leaker revealed that he too would be helping the organization.

Russells lawyer Christopher Gossage, who revealed to his wife’s best friend that J.K. Rowling was the person behind The Cuckoo’s Calling’s Robert Galbraith pseudonym, announced this morning that he will be paying for Rowling’s legal fees incurred over seeking justice for the leak, and made a “substantial” donation to The Soldier’s Charity.

In return for his donation, Rowling agreed to drop further legal action.

The aforementioned “wife’s best friend” was the person who leaked to The Sunday Times the true identity of Robert Galbraith, thus setting off the revelation worldwide.

Also this morning there is a bit more light being shed on what bothered Rowling so much about the leak. The author “was very much aggravated by repeated speculation that the leak had, in fact, been a carefully co-ordinated publicity stunt by her, her agent and her publishers designed to increase sales,” according to the statement by the law firm.

J.K. Rowling and her first big character Harry Potter celebrated their birthday yesterday, July 31.
