Users of Audible U.K. have named J.K. Rowling’s surprise book The Cuckoo’s Calling the Audiobook of the Year.

Listeners were asked to vote for their favorite book of the year, and Robert Galbraith’s crime drama took the top prize. “When The Cuckoo’s Calling first appeared, our editors identified it as a strong crime novel,” Audible U.K. writes. “Once it was revealed that author was not Robert Galbraith, but rather best-selling author J.K. Rowling using a pseudonym, the novel became an instant hit.”

The book hasn’t received too many awards this year, so seeing it receive recognition from listeners is reassuring. The Cuckoo’s Calling has consistently received warm reviews from critics and readers alike, and some say it is better than her first post-Potter novel, The Casual Vacancy.

Rowling says a second book in the Strike series will be released in 2014. We do not know anything about it at this time, but in a Q&A on the Robert Galbraith website the author confirms she’s “finished the sequel.”

The Cuckoo’s Calling was released in April, but Rowling’s secret stayed under wraps until July.
