Electronic Arts announced today that Crysis 3, the existence of which was leaked last week by the publisher’s Origin digital distribution service, will arrive in spring 2013.

EA said the “sandbox shooter” will be set in the year 2047 in a Nanodome-covered New York City rainforest. Players will take control of the returning character, Prophet, in a revenge mission filled with the standard twists and turns.

Crysis 3 will utilize the latest CryEngine technology on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Preordering earns you the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition that includes early access to the signature bow, a bonus Nanosuit that adds additional power, as well as an XP boost to level five in multiplayer.

Retailer-specific preorder bonuses include the Stalker Pack that doles out early access to the Jackal shotgun and a silencer attachment, the Overkill Pack and access to the Typhoon assault weapon and the Predator Pack that nets you access to the Feline submachine gun and exclusive ammo.
