In the wake of Thomas Gibson’s sudden firing from CBS’ Criminal Minds, the show is planning to replace the actor with two new characters.

Gibson was fired from Criminal Minds earlier this month after attacking one of the show’s producers. It was the latest in a string of inappropriate behavior on set, according to reports.

Since the news will cause such a big shift in the show, viewers have wondered how they would write him out without any sort of farewell.

Now, plans are starting to come to light. TV Line reports that Criminal Minds will add two new characters to replace Thomas Gibson’s character Aaron Hotchner. One of the characters is reportedly being “eyed to succeed Hotchner as team leader,” while the other character’s role is still unknown.

As previously reported, Gibson won’t be shooting any sort of goodbye scene to write his character out. He will simply disappear.

We’re sure he’ll get some sort of mention in the first episode or two post-departure, but other than that, Gibson gets nothing.

The actor said after his firing, “I love Criminal Minds and have put my heart and soul into it for the last twelve years. I had hoped to see it through to the end, but that won’t be possible now. I would just like to say thank you to the writers, producers, actors, our amazing crew, and, most importantly, the best fans that a show could ever hope to have.”
