A new synopsis for the film and script book were released today. While it doesn’t offer major hints about the plot, it does clue us in to Newt and Dumbledore’s interactions in the Fantastic Beasts sequel:

Set in J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world, the second of the five-film series that began with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them moves from New York to London and on to Paris. Featuring a cast of both familiar and new magical creatures and characters, the film expands on earlier events that helped shape the wizarding world and includes some surprising nods to the Harry Potter stories that will delight fans of both the books and films.

At the end of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald was captured in New York with the help of Newt Scamander. But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escapes custody and sets about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.

In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore enlists Newt, his former Hogwarts student, who agrees to help once again, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

One issue with the original Fantastic Beasts’ script book was that it stuck strictly to the final cut of the movie. In other words, it didn’t include deleted scenes that were a part of the script but cut from the film for time.

Here’s hoping we get those deleted scenes in the second script book.
