It looks like Steven Caple Jr., will be the director tasked with ushering in the newest iteration of Paramount Pictures’ Transformers franchise.

According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures has tasked director Steven Caple Jr. to serve as director on the next installment of its incredibly popular Transformers franchise.

Caple Jr. is likely best known for helming 2018’s Creed II. The director took over the reins on the sequel from Ryan Coogler who served as director on the first installment of the sports drama, which stars Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone.

It’s not yet known what Caple Jr.’s Transformers movie will focus on, but it seems as though Paramount Pictures will be looking for the film to serve as a reboot of the franchise.

Currently, it seems as though Joby Harold, who recently penned the script for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and is also attached to serve as writer on Disney+’s long-gestating Obi-Wan Kenobi series, will serve as the writer for the next Transformers flick.

In addition to the script being written by Harold, the studio also has an additional script in the woks for the franchise, which is currently being written by Scream 5 and Amazing Spider-Man scribe James Vanderbilt.

The studio is keeping fairly tight lipped with regards to what each of the scripts entail, so it’s looking like we’ll have to sit tight until they shed some more light on what Steven Caple Jr.’s installment of the franchise will focus on.
