Crazy Ex-Girlfriend may be over, but Rachel Bloom blessed us with the release of the season 4 deleted song “I’m So Happy 4 U.”

Those of us who are Crazy Ex-Girlfriend fans are still mourning the end of the iconic show. And while we came to the end of our journey with Rebecca Bunch and the rest of our pals in West Covina, it doesn’t mean we’re done with new CXGF content.

In addition to releasing the music (and sheet music, if that’s your thing) for the songs in season 4, Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna also gave us a pretty great gift — a previously unreleased song. Called “I’m So Happy 4 U,” the song ended up finding its way to the cutting room floor after the plot changed around as the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend team tweaked the script.

Thankfully, the song was rescued and released for all of us to enjoy. Check out the music video for the song below.

True to form for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, this song is incredibly relatable. It perfectly encapsulates that really tough wave of emotions when it feels like all of your friends are doing awesome stuff and moving on with their lives while you feel a bit stuck in a less-than-perfect place.

Rachel Bloom also released some BTS footage from the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend set when they filmed the song. And while it’s all fun footage, it is going to make you miss this show even more.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend was an incredibly iconic show, and the fact that a great (and super catchy) song like “I’m So Happy 4 U” hit the cutting room floor is a testament to the quality of the songs that made the actual episodes.

Rachel Bloom and her team managed to tell powerful, relatable stories in a disarming way, and the songs that accompanied those stories often articulated complicated feelings in a unique and powerful way that hadn’t been done on TV before (like the Emmy-nominated song “Anti-Depressants Are So Not a Big Deal”).

So while we’re super excited to get one last new song with Rebecca, we can’t help but miss Crazy Ex-Girlfriend even more. If you haven’t checked out the show yet, you can watch it on the CW app or catch up on Netflix.
