NBC weren’t entirely convinced they’d given us enough material to tide us over before Constantine premieres on October 24, so they decided to spoil us a little more.

We spoke a little too soon when we mentioned the Constantine camp had been somewhat quiet recently, as the pilot episode swiftly approaches, but NBC are certainly making up for that in earnest now. They recently treated us to 26 promotional stills from the first episode of the Hellblazer adaption, along with a behind-the-scenes featurette, and now they’ve given us some more goodies to increase our anticipation of the pilot.

‘Constantine’ pilot synopsis

“SERIES PREMIERE – JOHN CONSTANTINE TAKES ON A RISING DARKNESS AS HE FIGHTS TO RECLAIM HIS SOUL – JEREMY DAVIES AND LUCY GRIFFITHS GUEST STAR – Based on the wildly popular comic book series “Hellblazer” from DC Comics, seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult John Constantine (Matt Ryan) is armed with a ferocious knowledge of the dark arts and a wickedly naughty wit. He fights the good fight — or at least he did.

With his soul already damned to hell, he’s decided to abandon his campaign against evil until a series of events thrusts him back into the fray when an old friend’s daughter (guest star Lucy Griffiths) becomes the target of supernatural forces. Harold Perrineau and Charles Halford also star.”

We certainly can’t wait to see that ‘wickedly naughty wit’ in action!

‘Constantine’ teaser trailer

This is a far more condensed look at the show than we’ve had previously, but that certainly didn’t make it any less exciting. We recognised quite a few clips from previous sneak peeks that NBC have released during the build up to the pilot, but we’re pretty sure there were some quick flashes of new material interspersed throughout. Time to do a clip-by-clip break down? We think so!

‘Constantine’ series poster

We absolutely love this comic book style poster for the series, designed by amazingly talented comic artist Gene Ha. It perfectly depicts Matt Ryan’s likeness as the titular occult detective, as well as giving us our first tantalizing glimpse at what we might expect Papa Midnite (Michael James Shaw) and Zed (Angélica Celaya)’s appearance to be. We’re sure to be pouring over each agonising detail to try and decipher any clues as to what path the series will take — other than the very obvious Heaven vs. Hell split. There are lots of little trinkets tucked into every inch of the poster.

Constantine will air on NBC beginning Friday, October 24 at 10 p.m.
