If you’re still disappointed by the news that NBC’s Constantine was canceled, you’re in luck: The character is returning this fall.

The CW and Constantine actor Matt Ryan announced on Tuesday that the actor will be making a guest appearance on Arrow season 4 later this year. Specifically, he’ll be appearing in episode 5, titled “Haunted.”

No details about Matt Ryan’s specific role in the show were announced, but we do know that it’ll be a one-episode appearance. Arrow’s executive producer feels like Constantine will be a perfect fit:

“We are thrilled to have Matt Ryan reprise the role of John Constantine on an upcoming episode of Arrow,” said EP Marc Guggenheim. “Matt is an incredibly talented actor and his portrayal of this beloved character was always something we admired. The introduction of magic and mysticism on the show this season has provided a truly organic opportunity for us to bring John Constantine to Arrow and the CW’s DC universe. It will be a well-deserved tip of the hat to all the Constantine fans who were so incredibly supportive of that series.”

The actor shared the following video to make the announcement:

Stephen Amell, who plays Arrow, also shared his excitement:

We wonder if The CW is going to consider an expanded role for Constantine later in the season or when season 5 rolls around next year. Clearly they have permission to bring the character back to life!

Speaking of other superhero crossovers requiring a character to jump from one network to another, The CW’s Mark Pedowitz said during today’s Television Critics Association panel that he’d be happy to see Supergirl, which premieres on CBS this fall, join up with the heroes on The CW:

The CW loves their superhero crossovers. They’re premiering an entire new series early next year titled Legends of Tomorrow that draws from the worlds of Arrow and The Flash.

As for the fate of Constantine beyond Arrow, don’t forget that the series is looking for a new home outside of NBC. “Warner Bros working hard to find #Constantine new home. Stay active. Stream. Tweet. #SaveConstantine,” tweeted showrunner Daniel Cerone in May.

Maybe The CW would be interested in taking on the series? Or are they way too packed with superhero series at the moment?

Constantine fans will want to support the series by watching Matt Ryan’s appearance on Arrow this fall. It could help the show get saved by The CW!
