Several shows are being brought back in revival series and movies lately, but Connie Britton says Friday Night Lights won’t be one of them.

Friday Night Lights may have ended back in 2011, but that hasn’t stopped fans from keeping their love for the show alive. In an age when several beloved shows have been brought back thanks to Netflix, series revivals, reboots, and movies, it’s not surprising that fans are still talking about making a Friday Night Lights movie.

However, while it seemed as though a movie was a very real possibility several years ago, after a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Connie Britton is singing a very different tune than she was initially.

Fans of the show might be frustrated at Britton’s lack of interest in a movie adaptation of the series, especially because she used to be a huge proponent of the idea. However, as she explains in the clip above, the time for bringing the show back has passed.

Especially with so many shows coming back for a second life, there truly is something special about doing a great show with a great ending and leaving it at that. Friday Night Lights was able to tell its story completely and end well, and it’s okay to just let some things (even shows we love so much) end for good.

Of course, as Entertainment Weekly reports, it might not matter what Britton and the original cast thinks about a reboot. Reports have swirled that Universal was looking into making a new Friday Night Lights movie, but with a completely new cast of characters. The movie would still center around football in a small town in America, but the story would be a completely fresh one, leaving the characters and the story of the television show untouched.

We’ll have to see if Universal pursues another Friday Night Lights-style story, but for now it seems like, even if a new movie does happen, we won’t be returning to Dillon High in any capacity outside of reruns.
