Conan O’Brien is gearing up to take his leave from TBS— but he’s not quite ready to hang up the hat when it comes to show business.

On Tuesday (November 17), Warner Media announced that Conan O’Brien will soon be headlining a brand new weekly variety series set to take flight at HBO Max.

The move marks a huge pivot for O’Brien, who’s been working in the late night sphere for nearly three decades. In addition to announcing his new variety series at HBO Max, it was also announced that O’Brien would be ending his 10-year run on Conan at TBS when the talk show concludes its tenth and final season in June 2021.

While Conan may be coming to a close, the late night hosts’s signature travel specials, Conan Without Borders, is set to continue.

Shortly after news broke, O’Brien released a statement with regards to his new variety show at HBO Max saying, “In 1993 Johnny Carson gave me the best advice of my career: ‘As soon as possible, get to a streaming platform.’ I’m thrilled that I get to continue doing whatever the hell it is I do on HBO Max, and I look forward to a free subscription.”

As for HBO Max, the streaming service is clearly thrilled to have him him on board.

“Conan’s unique brand of energetic, relatable, and at times, absurdist, comedy has charmed late-night audiences for nearly three decades. We can’t wait to see what he and the rest of Team Coco will dream up for this brand new, variety format each week,” said Casey Bloys, Chief Content Officer, HBO and HBO Max.

There’s no word on when we can expect the new variety show to premiere via HBO Max, but for now, fans can catch Conan O’Brien every night at TBS, Monday through Thursday at 11 p.m., ET/PT.
