Comedian and actor Rob Corddry will be returning to reprise his role as Jeff Winger’s co-worker-turned-rival in season 5 of Community.

According to TV Line Rob Corddry will be guest starring in season 5 of Community as Alan Connor, the lawyer at Jeff’s former firm who sold him out, stripping him of his “Colombian” law degree.

Corddry is best known for his work as a correspondent on The Daily Show and has seemingly appeared in every other TV comedy in existence including: Arrested Development, Happy Endings and Children’s Hospital, which he created.

Corddry first appeared in episode two of season 2 in which it was revealed that he was responsible for ratting on Jeff’s illegitimate degree, then again in the season 3 finale, representing Pierce in his “case” against Shirley.

With the season 3 finale being the last episode creator Dan Harmon was involved in prior to his ousting for season 4 and subsequent rehiring for season 5, it looks like he is eager to get back to exactly where he left off.

The end of season 4 saw Jeff finally graduating and exiting the confines of Greendale but Harmon has said that bringing Jeff back to the study room is his priority. “I want him back at that table,” he told TVLine, “I want him back in those hallways. But I’m not going to have him wake up and go, ‘Whoa! I didn’t graduate! I took a pill that made it seem like I did.'”

It remains to be seen just how Alan Connor’s presence will get Jeff back to Greendale. Maybe a taste of being back in the legal world will drive Jeff Winger right back into academia.
