This Saturday and Sunday in Los Angeles, Community fans flocked to City College (no, that’s not a joke – the Community convention was actually held at Los Angeles City College) to celebrate the show. Writers Megan Ganz, Andy Bobrow, Chris McKenna and Steve Bsilone, actors Gillian Jacobs and Yvette Nicole Brown and ousted creator Dan Harmon were all in attendance.

Fans were treated to several panels with the cast and crew, as well as a segment called “My Whole Brain is Crying,” in which they had an open mic to share their feelings about the show. Though, Dan Harmon, of course, was the marquee feature. He showed up in a feature called “Dan Harmon with a Microphone” to give one of his patented, rambling addresses about not only the show but his views on life in general. He’s the kind of guy who seems like he should always be wearing a Jedi robe now. Watch a snippet of it below:

According to Flavorwire, Harmon also reiterated his views on season 4, namely his decision not to watch it.

“I didn’t watch because I’m the last person who should be watching. I’m the last person that anyone wants to hear from. All I could do is f*** things up — pardon my French. It’s the logical thing for me to do for myself, for everybody, for all of you. What if I loved it? What if I hated it? What could screw things up more than me speaking up about it in the mix of all of this turmoil and all of this confusion that we’re all feeling?”

During Harmon’s speech, he dropped an interesting and illuminating tidbit about the naming of the show. Apparently the studio wanted the show to be named Community College since Twitter does not allow “Community” to be a hashtaggable term due to how generic it is. But Harmon was insistent upon the name, believing the term to be such an important concept for the direction of the show. Based on the fact that a show that just entered only its fourth season had a full-blown gathering of a community of fans, we’d say the name was a good choice.
