NBC has released a double-dose of photos from season 4 of Community‘s ninth episode, “Intro to Felt Surrogacy.” Check them out here!

Judging by the amount of early looks we’ve gotten at this episode, including several videos, and now even more photos, NBC is either very pleased with this episode or slightly overestimating the public’s interest in puppetry. Either way, the extra material to hold us over for tonight is much appreciated.

Most of the photos offer us decent looks at the study group’s felt surrogates (excellent episode title). Of the seven, Troy’s is still the most adorable, Annie’s most closely resembles its human companion and Jeff’s is far and away the creepiest. There’s something about that giant forehead and lifeless eyes…well, even more lifeless than puppet’s eyes should be.

There is still no word as to how the puppets will be incorporated. A good bet is that there will be an extended fantasy sequence/mental breakdown a la “Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas,” but we do know from these photos and NBC’s synopsis that they won’t be confined just to the study room desk.

“The study group takes a wild balloon ride that crash lands in the woods and they end up spending some quality time together with a friendly mountain man.”

Said mountain man will be played by Jason Alexander. Singer Sara Bareilles is also slated to appear. Aside from accidentally anachronistic holiday episodes, this is the first episode from season 4’s new showrunners at an “event” style episode of Community like the paintball, Goodfellas or Apollo 13 episodes from past seasons. Here’s hoping they’ve pulled it off.
