Comcast and Twitter are looking to transform the way you watch television. “See It” will allow Xfinity customers to watch live television right on their feed, or automatically tune their TV onto the show.

Here’s how it will work: When you’re browsing your Twitter feed and you see a tweet about a television show, a new “See It” button will appear below the tweet. If the show is currently airing live, there will be a button that lets you tune the television in your home over to the channel. Alternatively, you will be able to watch the show live right on your mobile device. There will be an additional option to DVR the show if it is airing in the near future.

“See It” will make it as easy as possible for those browsing their Twitter feeds tune into television being talked about. Currently, networks can promote their shows to their heart’s content, but converting tweet readers into viewers is a more difficult challenge.

Comcast says that other television networks and cable companies are interested in this technology, so this feature will be rolled out to another channels and cable boxes in the years ahead.

“See It” looks like a win-win for not only television shows and cable companies but also consumers who want an easy way to consume the content their reading and caring about.

A release date for “See It” with Xfinity and NBC has not been set, but appears to be in the very near future.
