Colin Trevorrow has announced that he will donate all of his profits from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to a children’s hospice.

Colin Trevorrow might have been replaced by JJ Abrams on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but the filmmaker does still have a writing credit for the movie for the work he did before being replaced by Abrams. Because of that, he’ll be receiving some residuals for the movie.

But instead of taking his money and bemoaning his removal from the film, Colin Trevorrow has decided to do some real good with those funds. As Deadline reports, he’ll be donating all of his profits from the movie to the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice in Berkshire.

So why the charitable move? According to Trevorrow himself, it was to honor Star Wars creator George Lucas.

“Through his films, George Lucas taught us about our connection to all living things. He taught us to take care of one another, and he set a powerful example himself. The Alexander Devine Hospice helps families in the most challenging of times. I can’t think of a more fitting way to honor George’s legacy.”

The Alexander Devine Hospice is free of charge and relies on donations to keep the lights on, so this is a huge boon to the organization. Fiona Devine, the CEO and Founder of the hospice said that Colin Trevorrow’s donation will be the equivalent of paying a nurse’s salary for an entire year.

Devine continued to express her gratitude saying, “We know that there are at least 1,200 children across Berkshire and the surrounding counties that need our help. Our care is free of charge and we are reliant on donations and fundraising to run our vital service. We cannot thank Colin Trevorrow and his family enough for their amazing support and generosity.”

We love to hear how Colin Trevorrow took his high-profile firing and turned it into something truly positive and life-giving to people experiencing the toughest days of their lives.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opens in movie theaters everywhere on December 20.
