Despite the Paddington trailer being released last week, actor Colin Firth will no longer be providing the voice for the popular bear.

Paddington’s first trailer premiered last week and didn’t exactly grab the world’s attention, despite its solid looking CGI.

But, many fans were excited because Oscar Award-winning actor Colin Firth was going to be the voice behind the bear.

Now it’s been revealed that Firth has decided to leave the film, no longer offering his voice to the popular Paddington bear adaptation. Firth says, “After a period of denial, we’ve chosen ‘conscious uncoupling.’” Essentially he’s saying that he no longer wanted to be involved.

Colin Firth also said that he’d, “come to the sad realization that he simply doesn’t have my voice.” Which means Firth either didn’t like what he was seeing from the film’s latest footage, or director Paul King wanted to go with another actor to voice the role (we can’t fathom why that would be the case).

Either way, Firth seems to be okay with the fact that he’s no longer voicing the stuffed bear as he said, “I’m pestering them all with suggestions for finding a voice worthy of him.”

It seems as though Firth had already finished recording all of his lines for the film, but the film’s director says that Paddington’s new voice will be announced in the next few weeks.

Paddington is a live-action adaptation of the popular Paddington teddy bear, starring Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Nicole Kidman and Peter Capaldi.
