Clueless, which hit cinemas on June 19, 1995, starred Alicia Silverstone as popular and superficial teenager Cher, who made it her mission to make new girl Tai (Brittany Murphy) a member of the it-crowd.

Marvel’s newest wonder boy Paul Rudd played Cher’s love interest and step-brother Josh, with Donald Faison and Stacey Dash completing the brilliant cast.

Clueless, a modern-day adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma, came as part of the wave of timeless teen comedies, which also includes such gems as Mean Girls and She’s All That.

20 years later, it remains one of the most quotable comedies of all time.

So, naturally, with the nostalgia fever sweeping Hollywood, it’s time to reboot the iconic movie for a new audience.

But rather than shooting for a sequel or remake, director Amy Heckerling tells The Hollywood Reporter that she wants to bring Clueless to the stage.

Heckerling has already written the book and the lyrics for the musical adaptation, and is now working with music supervisors to create the tunes.

The Clueless musical has already attracted producers who worked on Jersey Boys and The Who’s Tommy, and although there’s no concrete timeline yet, we think this production has a good chance of making it to the stage!
