Terrible news, Cloak and Dagger fans — the Marvel comic book series has been cancelled at Freeform after two fantastic seasons.

Thanos may have been vanquished and everyone returned from The Snap, but it looks like someone forgot to tell Marvel Television shows. FX’s Legion recently came to an end, Hulu decided to forgo the upcoming Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D spinoff show, Ghost Rider, and who could forget the fact that all the Marvel Netflix shows were cancelled despite receiving high acclaim and fan support?

The latest to suffer from the snap of cancellation is Freeform’s YA-focused comic book drama Cloak and Dagger.

Freeform announced yesterday that it would be cancelling Cloak and Dagger, which wrapped up its second season five months ago. According to The Hollywood Reporter, ratings for the show were down year-over-year and options on the cast were expiring.

“We are so proud of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and the trailblazing stories this series told,” Freeform said Thursday in a statement. “We are also grateful to our incredible talent Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph for bringing these beloved characters to life, and showrunner Joe Pokaski for his vision. We’d like to thank our partners at Marvel Television for a wonderful two seasons and are we are hopeful that we can find another project together.”

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger followed the story of Tandy Bowen, played by Olivia Holt, and Tyrone Johnson, played by newcomer Aubrey Joseph. The two teenagers came from very different backgrounds and found themselves burdened with and awakened to newly acquired superpowers, which were mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy could create blades out of light (hence the name Dagger) and see people’s hopes, while Tyrone could travel using the Darkforce dimension when wrapped in a cloak (hence the name Cloak) and see people’s deepest fears.

Season 2 turned the heat up on the young heroes as Tyrone and Tandy tried to find their place as more active heroes in this world.

With Cloak and Dagger cancelled, the last time fans will be able to see the two young heroes will be in the upcoming season of Hulu’s Runaways, which will feature a crossover between the two shows.
