I was sitting bored watching some TV this weekend and I saw that Sherlock Holmes, the 2009 film, was on. I remembered loving it in theaters so I sat down and watched it. I was completely memorised! It was action packed, hilarious, and a real thinker. I had forgotten how good the acting was and I found myself craving more from Mr. Holmes. I opened my laptop and began searching the internet for all things Sherlockonian. Upon logging on to Hypable.com I was reminded “A Game of Shadows”, the sequel to the 2009 film, will be released this weekend (December 16th)! So for all those like me who still just can’t wait or end up seeing the film and want more, here are some recommendations I’ve come to love in the past to hold you over and help you delve into the fandom.

1. Of course start by rewatching the 2009 film.

2.Read the original “canon” written by sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I’d recommend starting with “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes”.

3.Start watching the “Sherlock” t.v series! They are excellent contemporary takes on Doyle’s original works and best of all they are still in production!

4. Watch one (or all!) of the classic films, such as “Young Sherlock Holmes”(1985), “The Privet Life of Sherlock Holmes” (1970) or if you’re feeling particularily nostalgic try the orignial classic “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” (1939)

5. Watch the trailer repeatedly. Also check out this Hypable post to watch nine clips from the sequel!

It’s an old fandom but theres a reason it hasn’t died yet. It doesn’t take powerful deductive talents to realise Holmes, Dr Watson and the band of criminals they convict are fun and refreshing characters however they are told. Sherlock Holmes will always keep you laughing and on your toes. Enjoy the film!
