The Mortal Instruments TV series director McG has unveiled our first look at Clary and Jace in Shadowhunters.
The photo McG posted on Twitter, viewable above, appears to be a photo of another photo. If we were to guess why this is, we’d suspect Katherine McNamara and Dominic Sherwood are in their roles as Clary and Jace this week for a promotional photoshoot. Either that or they want to drive fans crazy with this intimate pose!
As for their appearances versus how they are described in Cassandra Clare’s book series, McNamara is a natural redhead and has kept her color for the role (Clary’s hair is red in the books), while Sherwood has changed his dark brown hair to a lighter color (Jace is blond in the series).

Shadowhunters will be airing on ABC Family later this year, and as preparations to begin filming continue, the network has been sharing a slew of casting announcements. Most recently, we learned Glee alum Harry Shum Jr. will be playing Magnus Bane. You can learn more about the cast (so far!) at this link.

Although this photo gives us a great preview of what the two characters will look like in the series, we’re hoping an even better photo (one that’s not a photo of a photo) will be released in the weeks ahead.
