If you’re looking for a TV show about Boston, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have your back. A pilot for City on a Hill has been picked up by Showtime.

If there’s one thing Ben Affleck and Matt Damon love, it’s their hometown of Boston. The two are executive producers for City on a Hill, which has been picked up for a pilot by Showtime according to Variety.

The pilot is a fictional account of the “Boston Miracle,” which occurred in the ’90s. The show will highlight the corruption, racism, and gangs in the city, and centers on the story of how an African-American district attorney came from Brooklyn to make a difference. Along with an FBI veteran (who happens to be corrupt), the two fight a group of armored car robbers. Eventually they’re able to turn Boston’s criminal justice system around.

Gavin O’Connor directed the pilot and states, “Chuck [Maclean] wrote a pressure-cooker of a script steeped in the tribal codes of a Shakespeare play — family, blood, betrayal, honor.”

Adding that, “His take on the ties that bind is handled with a deep honesty and insight. I see the show as a brawling thriller — and an intimate family drama — played out on the rough streets of Boston.”

Gavin O’Connor, James Mangold, and Jennifer Todd from Pearl Street Films will also serve as executive producers. Chuck Maclean wrote the script for the pilot, and Affleck is credited with helping come up with the idea.
