Another Downton Abbey lady is in talks to join Disney’s live-action Cinderella starring Lily James and Richard Madden.

Sophie McShera is close to nabbing the role of a wicked stepsister, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The actress plays kitchen cook Daisy Mason on Downton Abbey which is currently shooting series 4.

McShera will join fellow actress Holliday Grainger (The Borgias) as evil step sisters Drisella and Anastasia. The two both taunt Cinderella in the storyline as the lady falls in love with her prince.

James, who will play Cinderella, first appeared in Downton Abbey series 3 and was up’d to a recurring role for series 4. Madden, who will play Prince Charming, recently left Game of Thrones following a climactic end to season 3. A cast made up of people who star in major television shows definitely makes this project one to watch as casting continues. Well known faces will put a fresh spin on the classic tale which was originally animated by Disney in 1950.

Disney’s live action Cinderella will be directed by Kenneth Branagh and is aiming for a release in late 2014. They plan to shoot this fall in England. Meanwhile, Disney is putting the finishing touches on their live action Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie. The movie opens in theaters July 2014.

Thanks, THR.
