Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan had his hands, feet, and signature cemented into history today at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

Accompanying the famed director was The Dark Knight Rises cast, including Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Morgan Freeman. Also in attendance was his wife Emma Thomas and his brother Jonathan Nolan, who co-writes most of his films.

Comingsoon.net was at the event and even got a chance to ask Nolan an intriguing question:

“For someone whose work has featured a recurring motif of permanent objects standing in as a barometer on reality (the Polaroids in Memento and the totems in Inception), it doesn’t get much more permanent than dried cement.”

Nolan: “I think that’s an astute observation. There is something about the permanence of these things. I’m standing on Clint Eastwood’s name right now and there’s something about knowing that he actually wrote that. There’s something very interesting about the phenomenon of trying to preserve something and trying to hang onto it.”

Nolan never ceases to impress and we’re excited to see him honored at his Grauman’s Chinese Theater ceremony today. We look forward to seeing his Batman trilogy’s finale on July 20, which received a standing ovation at its first critic screening.
