Christopher Nolan has already broken one of the only IMAX cameras on the set of The Dark Knight Rises, and he’s not afraid to do it again.

But why should he be?

Christopher Nolan loves the IMAX camera, and rightly so. There isn’t a camera in the world that can come close to capturing the detail that it does, and as Nolan’s films are as masterfully produced on every level as any films around, we’re lucky that he’s able to use them as much as he does.

There are not that many IMAX cameras around because they are very expensive (at least $500 thousand), but Nolan doesn’t care. While shooting his next film, Interstellar, Nolan has installed one of the cameras where the nose of a jet is supposed to be. This spells disaster with a capital D, but it’s sure to give the film some absolutely amazing shots – shots of which we’ve never seen the likes of before.

Interstellar Visual Effects Supervisor Paul J. Franklin originally posted the images on his twitter account. (Thanks, Collider.)

Currently we don’t know too much about Interstellar, but that should be expected from a Nolan directed film as they are known for their secrecy. Previous rumors had the film being set around finding a new place to be able to grow corn, among other products, after the earth climate change has taken too much of a toll.

We do know that it will involve space travel. Here’s the blurb from the press release that gave a very basic idea of what the film will be:

The new script chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

If just the idea of a film directed by Christopher Nolan wasn’t enough for you, the cast he has assmembled is one of the most star-studded we’ve ever seen. Interstellar stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Matt Damon, Bill Erwin, John Lithgow, Casey Affleck, David Gyasi, Wes Bentley, Mackenzie Foy, Timothée Chalamet, Topher Grace, David Oyelowo, Ellen Burstyn, and, of course, Michael Caine.
