The Christmas Chronicles 2 is officially a go over at Netflix.

Netflix has an early Christmas present for fans of last year’s fun family flick, The Christmas Chronicles.

In a press release sent out on Friday (December 6), the online streaming giant announced that a sequel to the 2018 holiday flick is officially in the works.

In addition, the streamer took to it’s Netflix Family Twitter account to share the good news with fans far and wide.

In addition to announcing when we can expect the sequel to drop, they also shared a cute first look at Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn back in action as Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

“Here’s some news that will bring you cheer: our favorite Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be back next year!” tweeted the streamer.

Russell and Hawn aren’t the only ones set to return. In addition, actors Darby Camp, Kimberly Williams Paisley, and Judah Lewis, have all signed on to reprise their roles as Kate, Claire, and Teddy, respectively.

The returning cast members will be joined by newcomers Julian Dennison and Jahzir Bruno who have both joined the cast as well. They’ll be playing the roles of Belsnickel and Jack, respectively.

The character of Belsnickel sounds as though he’ll definitely prove to be a bit of a thorn in everyone’s side according to the official synopsis for the sequel.

When The Christmas Chronicles 2 makes its way to Netflix, we’ll catch up with Kate Pierce (now a cynical teenager) as she’s unexpectedly reunited with Santa Claus.

This time around, Christmas itself is in danger thanks to a mysterious magical troublemaker named Belsnickel, who threatens to destroy Christmas forever.

Directed by Chris Columbus, The Christmas Chronicles 2 is set to hit Netflix during the 2020 holiday season.
