Looks like season 5 will have a lot more wacky hair, hand fans, and sparkly tops, as Christina Aguilera will resume her role as coach on the singing competition next season, for a reported $17 million.

The Wrap reports that the pop diva will return to her spinning red chair for a paycheck of $17 million, which is about the same as what she was making in season 3. For some comparison, Mariah Carey is making $18 million for American Idol, and Britney Spears made $15 million for The X Factor.

There’s no news yet on the fate of the four current coaches: Adam Levine, Shakira, Usher, Blake Shelton, or Christina’s fellow former coach Cee Lo Green. NBC held its upfront presentation earlier today, where we learned that The Voice season 5 will premiere on September 23, but they did not make any announcements regarding the coaches.

Aguilera took this season off to promote her latest album Lotus and go on tour, but NBC has left the door open for her return. Fellow judge Cee Lo announced his departure around the same time, but with recent news that he will be getting his own reality show on TBS, and with his Las Vegas stage show Cee Lo Green is Loberace has been renewed for another season, it seems unlikely that he’ll return next season.

Executive producer Mark Burnett has previously made it clear that the coaching shake-ups are not a big deal, as he expected the coaches to rotate season-by-season since they are all working artists.

Season 4’s new coaches Shakira and Usher have made a strong showing in the competition thusfar, and The Voice is seeing its best ratings yet this season. Could bringing back Aguilera be a mistake?
