A new reboot of The Saint could find Chris Pratt starring in the leading role.

According to Variety, Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt is currently in very early negotiations to board Paramout Pictures’ upcoming reboot of The Saint.

The Saint is a thriller based on the popular book series by author Leslie Charteris. The series follows Simon Templar — a man who steals from corrupt politicians and warmongers who notoriously leaves behind a calling card featuring a stick figure with a halo.

Charteris’ stories have been adapted by Hollywood quite a few times. The most recent iteration of The Saint debuted in 1997. The film was helmed by Phillip Noyce and starred Val Kilmer and Elisabeth Shue.

Prior to that, the author’s books inspired a television adaptation out in the UK. The British series, which aired in the 1960s, was an early role for actor Roger Moore, who later went on to star in the James Bond franchise as 007 himself.

Finally, actor George Sanders starred in a handful of movies centered around The Saint, which were released between the late 1930s and the early 1940s.

Though Pratt has not yet signed on for Hollywood’s latest take on the thriller, Variety also reports that Paramount is looking to use the reboot as a means to start an action franchise centered around Charteris’ book series.

The Saint aside, Pratt has quite a few films coming down the pipeline.

Next year, you’ll be able to catch Pratt starring in The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (February 8, 2019) and in The Kid (May 23, 2019). Finally, in 2021, he’ll return to reprise his role as Owen Grady in Jurassic World 3.
