Chris Pratt is lining up another project: The Magnificent Seven, a remake of John Sturges’ classic 1960s Western.

Believe it or not, despite its superhero-esque title, this isn’t another comic book movie adaptation: The Magnificent Seven takes place in the Wild West, where an oppressed Mexican peasant village assembles seven gunfighters to protect their homes.

Antoine Fuqua is directing the remake for MGM, which is already set to star Denzel Washington. And now, it looks like Chris Pratt might join what is sure to be a star-studded cast.

Deadline reports that the Guardians of the Galaxy actor is in “early talks” for the role of Farraday.

The 1960s version was directed by John Sturges, and counted Steve McQueen, Yul Brynner and Charles Bronson among its cast. That film was itself an Americanized remake of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai (1954).

Screenwriter John Lee Hancock has completed a rewrite of the first draft (written by True Detective‘s Nic Pizzolatto), and has drawn in inspiration from Kurosawa’s original.

The Magnificent Seven takes place after the Civil War, towards the end of the Wild West era.

This isn’t Pratt’s only potential cowboy role: he is also circling Cowboy Ninja Viking, an adaptation of a really awesome graphic novel in which people are injected with several different personalities at once.

Pratt is next set to star in Jurassic World, for which a trailer was recently released.

Would Chris Pratt make a good cowboy? (Hint: yes)
