Marvel’s 2014 film Guardians of the Galaxy has finally landed its lead actor and Chris Pratt (Zero Dark Thirty) will be playing the lead character Star-Lord.

After rumors and quite a long search, Deadline is reporting that Marvel has finally found its lead for what they hope to be their next massive superhero franchise. Director James Gunn will be helming Guardians of the Galaxy. Pratt played one of the many Navy SEALs in director Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty. The major role is named Star-Lord, who will be the leader of the Guardians. He is the offspring of an alien father and a human mother.

A short synopsis for the film was reported a few weeks back, which stated that: “A U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants.”

The U.S. pilot is most likely Peter Quill, who is better known as Star-Lord. But the futuristic ex-cons are most likely the rest of the Guardians. This could mean that a majority of the film will be the origins of Peter Quill teaming up with the Guardians, which includes Rocket Raccoon, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, and Groot.

Guardians of the Galaxy follows a futuristic, alien superhero team protecting the galaxy from evil, lead by Peter Quill. The team first appeared in Marvel comics in 1969, but weren’t given their own series until the 1990s.
