Thor: Ragnarok star Chris Hemsworth could be suiting up for Sony’s upcoming Men in Black spinoff.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Hemsworth is currently in early negotiations to star in Sony’s Men in Black.

Though the studio has yet to settle on a cast, sources tell THR that Sony is looking to lock in a diverse cast of characters for the spinoff.

“Sources say that the studio is hoping to round out a diverse ensemble cast and may be potentially eyeing the leads to be [a] white male, a female of color, and an older man,” writes THR.

The original big screen adaptation of Lowell Cunningham and Sandy Carruthers’ comic book famously starred Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as an unlikely pair of secret agents tasked with defending the galaxy from extra-terrestrial violence.

Though Smith and Jones made for a great duo, it’d be fun to see a female agent take on a leading role in the spinoff Sony’s currently cooking up.

As we reported just last year, Sony’s Men in Black is set to be helmed by Fate of the Furious director F. Gary Gray. Iron Man scribes Matt Holloway and Art Marcum will pen the script, that’s set to take the new crop of characters on a global adventure.

The new film also boasts some familiar faces behind the scenes. Walter F. Parkers and Laurie MacDonald are both returning to produce the spinoff. Additionally, Steven Spielberg is also returning to executive produce the new project.

Sony’s Men in Black spinoff is expected to hit theaters on June 14, 2019.
