Marc Webb’s Gifted, starring Captain America: Civil War’s Chris Evans, has gotten a release date for early next year.

The synopsis reads, “Frank Adler (Chris Evans) is a single man raising a child prodigy — his spirited young niece Mary (Mckenna Grace) — in a coastal town in Florida. Frank’s plans for a normal school life for Mary are foiled when the seven-year-old’s mathematical abilities come to the attention of Frank’s formidable mother Evelyn (Lindsay Duncan) whose plans for her granddaughter threaten to separate Frank and Mary. Octavia Spencer plays Roberta, Frank and Mary’s landlady and best friend. Jenny Slate is Mary’s teacher, Bonnie, a young woman whose concern for her student develops into a connection with her uncle as well.”

Fox has also revealed the release date to be April 12, 2017. See an official image from the film below:

Directed by Webb ((500) Days of Summer, The Amazing Spider-Man) and written by Tom Flynn, the film is also being produced by Andy Cohen. Spencer and Evans have previously worked together on Snowpiercer. The film is being billed as a drama, and it sounds like it will be full of love and heart. Gifted is currently in post-production.

If you’re looking for other Chris Evans/Captain America news, you’re in luck. Recently, Brie Larson has been reportedly in talks to play Captain Marvel in what will become Marvel’s first female-led superhero film. Evans, calling her “phenomenal,” is staunchly in support of this decision.

Meanwhile, on the Captain America front, we’ve been covering the controversial decision to make Captain America part of Hydra in his latest comic run. Fans have been reacting negatively to the major twist, but Captain America: Steve Rogers issue #2 has revealed how this came to pass. Check out our review.
