Last summer Chris Colfer released his first novel for middle grade readers, The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell. Today the title, cover and release date for book two were announced.

According to EW’s Shelf Life the second book in The Land of Stories series will be called The Enchantress Returns. As you may recall, the Enchantress is the evil stepmother who cursed Sleeping Beauty from book one.

Synopsis:

Alex and Conner Bailey have not been back to the magical Land of Stories since their adventures in The Wishing Spell ended. But one night, they learn the famed Enchantress has kidnapped their mother. Against the will of their grandmother (the one and only Fairy Godmother), the twins must find their own way into the Land of Stories to rescue their mother and save the fairy tale world from the greatest threat it’s ever faced.

Clearly the Enchantress has it out for Connor and Alex. The Land of Stories: The Enchantress Returns will be released on August 6, 2013. Until then you can catch Colfer on Glee in the role of Kurt Hummel.

Check out the cover below. A golden harp, a polar bear with red eyes, and of course a spinning wheel make up parts of the cover. What do you think the pictures have to do with the story?
