[liveblog]According to THR, Colfer’s manager has confirmed that the actor’s verified Twitter account has been hacked and that he will in fact return for the upcoming sixth and final season.

20th Century Fox also confirmed that Colfer’s departure is not true with two tweets:

From earlier…

There’s no official word on the reasoning behind the decision, but according to Chris he will no longer be working on Glee. The tweet also mentions that an explanation will come soon:

In the tweet, Colfer also mentions “personal issues” but does not elaborate on what those issues may be. Could it be health, career, business or a mix of all of these elements coming in to play?

This news comes off a rather quiet couple of months for Glee since its season 5 finale pulled in the lowest ratings of the series. There had also been recent talk that the upcoming sixth and final season of Glee would also be cut short after having already been delayed and pushed back to a January premiere.

There have been rumors as far back as season 2 that things on the set of Glee have been less-than-ideal. This spring we heard word that Naya Rivera had also been fired following an on-set conflict with star Lea Michele. Reps for the show denied the conflict and assured fans that everything was stable and the rumors were untrue.

Fans around the world are shocked and saddened by the news, with Colfer and his character Kurt both beloved elements of Glee.

We expect a full statement from Fox and Glee in the coming days and will be following other Glee developments very closely.

What are your thoughts about Chris Colfer leaving the show? Will Kurt be mysteriously absent from the final season’s storyline?
