After allegedly punching a man in the face earlier this week in Washington, D.C., music artist Chris Brown has now entered a rehab facility.

The 24-year old singer went to court today over the brawl that happened over the weekend where the charge was reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor. Brown’s rep, Nicole Perna, released a statement to USA Today saying that Brown “has elected to enter a rehab facility.”

According to the statement: “His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point.”

Chris Brown may be more known for his 2009 assault incident with pop star Rihanna than his own music. Brown is still on probation for the 2009 charge that happened with his then-girlfriend. His probation is set to end on August 25, 2014 according to E! News.

Brown was recently given 1,000 extra hours of community service, to which the pop star had this to say:

“Community service, that s–t is a b-tch. I’ll be honest – and you can quote me on that – that is a motherf–ker there. For me, I think it’s more of a power trip for the DA. I can speak freely now, because I don’t really care what they say about it, but as far as, like, the 1,000 extra hours they gave me, that’s totally fricking bananas.”

It’s unclear whether Brown’s rehabilitation will revolve around substance abuse, mental health or both.

Brown continues to make headlines for his less than desirable behavior. Following his 2009 incident with Rihanna, Brown also had an incident at Good Morning America in 2011 which lead to broken windows and storming off of the set.

It’s great to hear that Chris Brown is finally taking action for his unfavorable behavior.
