With production gearing up on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3, Chloe Bennet hinted at a dramatic new look for her character.

In a video posted to Instagram, the actress shared her last moments with Skye’s signature long locks. Instead, Bennet will be rocking a shorter haircut in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 — one reminiscent of her comic book counterpart, Daisy Johnson.

“Say goodbye to the long hair,” Bennet says in the brief video, “‘Cuz Daisy Johnson is coming atcha!”

Understandably, Chloe Bennet seems somewhat apprehensive about her haircut — a feeling anyone who has taken on a major style change can appreciate. However, many fans are ambivalent about the decision for different reasons.

As revealed at the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, one major change coming in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 will be Skye’s identity. Her shorter haircut is emblematic of the character’s decision to embrace her birth name — Daisy Johnson.

“We no longer refer to her as ‘Skye,'” said executive producer Jeph Loeb, who moderated the panel. “We refer to her as Daisy Johnson.”

The change from Skye to Daisy seems rather abrupt to many fans, who are reluctant to lose the character they grew to love. However, aside from news of a several-month time-jump, information about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 is still extremely limited. While we certainly do not want to see Skye banished to the ether, it’s entirely possible that Bennet’s Daisy Johnson persona will be explained in a palatable and organic way when September rolls around.

Chloe Bennet herself seemed aware of the tension, and tweeted a soothing response to fans.

However we feel about the Skye/Daisy transformation, we totally can’t wait to see Bennet’s new ‘do.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 begins on Tuesday, Sept. 29 on ABC.
