Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King could be adding another famous name to its already impressive cast.

Jon Favreau has given us plenty of reasons to start hyping up his upcoming live action rendition of Disney’s The Lion King, and they’ve all got to do with the spot-on casting.

Now, it looks like The Lion King could be adding another amazing actor to its ranks!

The Wrap reports that the highly anticipated flick may have found the perfect man to voice Scar in none other than Academy Award nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor.

If cast, Ejiofor would join previously announced cast members Donald Glover (Simba), John Oliver (Zazu), Billy Eichner (Timon), and Seth Rogen (Pumbaa).

Fans of Disney’s original animated classic were over the moon when we learned earlier this year that James Earl Jones had been tapped to reprise his role as Simba’s father, Mufasa.

After Jones was confirmed, many were hoping that perhaps Jeremy Irons would return to voice Scar once more just as he did in the animated version.

Then just last month, rumors started swirling that perhaps Wolverine star Hugh Jackman might be circling the role.

Jackman’s involvement was well received by the fans, but unfortunately for those thrilled with the idea, Jackman himself came out later and said there was “absolutely no truth” to the rumors.

As fun as it would have been to see Irons return, or Jackman put his own spin on Scar, we’ll be incredibly excited if Ejiofor ends up scoring the part.

The actor has wowed us in a myriad of projects, including 2013’s Academy Award winning drama, 12 Years A Slave, so it’s safe to say we’re pretty confident that he’s got what it takes to bring Scar to life!
